Coming up, Altin will collaborate with the Brazilian Association of Trombonists for a very special virtual masterclass. This masterclass will provide insight into all things brass and trombone from fundamental building to the relations between Brazilian and Jazz genres and how Trombone operates in both.

Altin returns to the Brevard Institute for their yearly jazz summer camp under the direction of Michael Dease. Altin is serving as the Trombone faculty specialist as well as the coordinator of ensembles for this now infamous summer festivity!

Now the visiting Professor of Jazz Trombone for the Roots, Jazz, and American Music program at the San Fransisco Conservatory of Music — Altin Sencalar will be headed west monthly to shape and foster the young cats of San Francisco.
Be on the lookout for any potential club dates as Altin will be playing some of San Fransisco’s finest venues during his monthly travels.
Altin steps out yet again for another educational venture at Missouri State University which will include sessions on jazz pedagogy, arranging, composing, and big band concert & clinic w/ Jazz Ensemble 1.

“Hina Oikawa “Short Songs” is a project combining Japanese tanka poetry with jazz. Led by saxophonist and composer Hina Oikawa, the performance features a large jazz ensemble playing original music inspired by the beauty and emotions of traditional poetry. This unique blend of words and music offers a fresh and moving experience for the audience.”

This special concert will feature a side by side presentation from both the faculty of the SFCM as well as their students.
